SELMA, AL – DECEMBER 19, 2019: Keshee Dozier-Smith, 34, looks over documents at a YMCA Board of Directors meeting. Dozier-Smith took her seat on the Selma-Dallas County YMCA Board of Directors in September, 2019, and views her involvement there as an opportunity to encourage overall fitness and wellness within the community, and within the Rural Health Medical Program network. "It's really part of our broader mission at Rural Health Medical Program – helping our patients connect with the community through health, fitness and wellness, and to bring people from different walks of life together."
Since joining Rural Health Medical Program as Chief Executive Officer in March 2016, Dozier-Smith has effectively moderned the 35-year-old floundering business – opening three new clinics, streamlining processes and reaching out to local companies to offer healthcare services for employees. In the wake of rising hospital closures that leave Alabama’s poorest citizens disproportionately cut off from access to medical care, Dozier-Smith represents a renewed effort to bridge the rural gap by offering a quality, affordable healthcare option.
