NEW DELHI, INDIA – JANUARY 13, 2020: The Amazon India team and its partners prepare a fleet of fully electric "EV" rickshaws for debut through social media channels. As part of Amazon's leading effort to mitigate climate change globally, the new fully electric, zero-carbon rickshaws will be deployed throughout India for use in Amazon delivery. The deployment comes in stride with the company’s announcement of an additional US $10 billion investment in India – one of the company’s fastest-growing markets. “The 21st Century is going to be an Indian century,” Bezos said during his tour of the country, touting the country’s dynamism, energy and commitment to democracy as indicators of future growth.
