PINE APPLE, AL – JUNE 4, 2012: Sandra Lymon receives food aid from the Ana Maria Food Pantry. Lymon, 46, worked for over two decades in various factory and assembly line jobs before being laid off in May, 2011. For the first time in her life she found herself relying on food stamps and government assistance to provide for herself and her daughter, Candra. Lymon became ineligible for food stamps in 2012 when her daughter moved out of her mobile home. She recently became certified as a nursing assistant, and is hopeful she'll find more work.
Lymon's daughter Candra Lymon, 20, is a student at Auburn University at Montgomery, where she will begin her junior year as an accounting major in the fall. "I honestly just want to say I'm proud of my mom, because even though she doesn't have a job she's not down and out. I mean she was a little stressed about it at first but she's coming to and trying to work on new things and trying to find a more suitable career rather than working in factories for the rest of her life."
